A Tale of Caution
Basel old town is one of the best preserved old town not only in Switzerland but in entire Europe as well. It brings together the history of medieval times, in various ways - right from the houses dating back to 14th century or older, or the middle bridge - which was one of the oldest crossings on Rhine between Lake Constanz and the North Sea, and of course the various landmark like Rathaus, Munsterplatz, Schifflande. Don't forget to walk to cross the Rhine thru the middle bridge (called Mittelere brucke, originally constructed in 1227 and rebuilt in 1905) and take one of the ferry (powered by the currents of the Rhine) back to the other side of the Rhine.
