Thailand : Temples, Treats, and Finding My Place

Written by Mrigakshi Pradhan Nov 17, 2025

Thailand truly captured our hearts. It was more than just a vacation; it was a journey where every member of our family—including me—found something special. From the buzz of Bangkok to the tranquility of the southern islands, this trip had it all.

🙏 The Culture: Strong Women and Welcoming Smiles
Our days were filled with breathtaking sights, like the ornate temples of Bangkok. The architecture is mesmerizing, and the history is palpable. While we explored places like Wat Pho or the Grand Palace area, I was struck by the confidence and grace of the Thai women we encountered.

It was inspiring to see the visible role of women in the culture. They were everywhere: running shops, guiding tours, and even operating the unique transportation! In one of my favorite photos, a friendly woman is proudly posing with us on her motorcycle sidecar—a local taxi. It was a clear, wonderful example of their essential, hands-on contribution to daily life. This sense of capability and welcoming spirit made me feel immediately at ease.

😋 The Food: The Sweetest Memory
I'm usually the one hunting down cultural sites, but on this trip, the food was the biggest hit for the whole family! Our little one still talks about the desserts. The picture of her absolutely focused on that mountain of shaved ice is a perfect memory.

It was Pang Cha (Thai Milk Tea Bingsu) from a place in Bangkok—I think it was Pang Cha Thai Royal Cafe in one of the big malls. Seeing that Michelin Guide sticker on the menu just added a little extra flair to an already incredible treat. That moment, sharing something so ridiculously delicious and high-quality, proved that Thai cuisine truly has a sweet spot for everyone in the family.

🏝️ Island Life: Feeling Safe and Taken Care Of
As a parent, nothing matters more than safety, and I have to say, the whole tourist experience felt incredibly safe and regulated. It meant I could actually relax and enjoy the scenery.

Out in the islands, cruising through Phang Nga Bay near Phuket, the view of the limestone karsts was unreal! The long-tail boat tours were organized and reliable. It was beautiful to see the kids so happy and secure on the water. Even those fun, bumpy rides on the sidecar transports felt controlled and professional. Every detail, from the transportation to the tours, was managed smoothly, letting us focus entirely on making memories.

🏮 The Vibe: Falling for Phuket Town
I wasn't sure what to expect from Phuket Town, but it was fascinating! It offered a completely different vibe than the beaches—a blend of history and modern life.

Walking through the Old Town at night was a highlight. The streets were filled with people, and the historical Sino-Portuguese shophouses glowed with light. Seeing my son standing under that huge, illuminated dragon archway (a stunning piece of street art on one of the main roads) really captured the town's vibrant, blended culture. It felt lively, energetic, and perfectly safe for an evening walk, offering us a chance to wander, explore local shops, and really connect with the local flavor of Thailand.

Thailand was a gift—a beautiful country that provided adventure, culture, and a comforting sense of safety for our family. We left with full hearts and even better photo albums!
