Imran is a reputable name in wildlife circle, he is a naturalist with a passion for wildlife conservation. For the past 18 years, he has been promoting ecological tourism in Corbett tiger reserve with the aim of establishing a strong link between tiger conservation and ecological tourism. Post attaining topical degrees in wildlife ecology, biology & human interspersion in wildlife conservation, the ecologist-naturalist pioneered wildlife tourism.
Being with Imran is like reading an encyclopedia. His knowledge of the forest, its inhabitants and their behavioral patterns, the flora and fauna is unparalleled. He started his journey as a child accompanying his grandfather inside these forests in boats which now have become the forests of the Corbett landscape. On seeing his interest in the forests his father encouraged him to spend more and more time in the forests. He appeared for the Forest services exams but could not make the grade but fortunately he made it to the first batch of the masters of wildlife sciences. He then came back to Corbett after a gap of a few years to do a dissertation on grassland management in Dhikala chaurs.
Imran thereafter pioneered a rather planned version of wildlife tourism in Corbett in 1995. He realized that wildlife tourism is the only source of generating employment as well as supplementing income. His idea of wildlife tourism is to gather more outdoors supporters for tiger conservation at the same time as ensuring that the communities living on the periphery of the forests do not become hostile towards the wilderness. He encouraged the communities not to sell their land but instead lease them out for tourism-related infrastructures such as resorts and be partners with the investors.
The biggest advantage of staying with Imran, is that he offers tailormade itineraries, and accompanies you on those trails. Take your pick from a bird watching tour to an organic nature trail, or a simple nature walk or an intense jungle safari, a photography trail or a cultural experience—you will not return disappointed. .
