Details of PADI open water dive course:
3 Full days, usually from 9am till 5pm. This can change, depending on how fast you learn, the weather or your travel-schedule (no flying 18 - 24 hours after diving). Includes equipment rental, PADI course manual and logbook, PADI certification-fees and coffee/tea & snacks between boat dives.
Swim test: To be a certified diver you need to show us you can float/tread water for 10 min and swim 200m.
Theory: To be able to pass a multiple-choice exam, you will learn all about dive-theory and safety from a manual, video and your instructor. Our “classroom” is right on the beach.
Confined water training: You will get to know your equipment and learn a lot of diving skills in shallow water.
The dives: In deeper water, on actual diversities, you will perfect your diving skills on 4 dives while looking at the fish and corals.
BASIC COURSE STRUCTURE...
KNOWLEDGE: The course begins with knowledge development through instructor led theory sessions. You can also opt for self-study in the comfort of your own room as we have portable DVD players available for our students. There are five modules of theory to work through with the accompanying videos and manual.
NEW SKILL: Practice 20 new scuba skills in a confined water area. Usually of one of the many beautiful beaches on Koh Lipe! Learn new snorkeling skills, skin diving and scuba skills over 2 sessions, allowing you to practice and get comfortable with everything you have learnt.
THE FUN STUFF: Practice your new skills over 4 Open Water dives and explore our stunning coral reefs! Jump on our speedboat and visit the local dive sites in the Tarutao Marine Park, only 10 minutes away, to complete your training dives. You will practice buoyancy and emergency skills, dive planning and navigation techniques.
Two dives are made on the first day to a maximum depth of 12 meters and two the following day to a depth of 18 meters. Being on a speedboat you will come back to the dive shop in between dives for coffee and snacks.
You will be required to complete a 200-metre swim and 10-minute float as part of the water skills and stamina assessment.
After this you will be certified as an Open Water Diver licensed to dive around the world for the rest of your life to a maximum depth of 18m!
